This section is intended to be both serious and fun. At the same time, it will give you insights into the use of managerial rational process, a key capability necessary for the effective practice of management. To assist you with your “Which MBA” decision, we will make use of a rational process tool developed over the past 50 years by Kepner-Tregoe called Decision Analysis or DA. Its techniques represent an expansion and systematic refinement on the thinking pattern we use everyday in making our choices. As set out here, the DA will take you less than 5 minutes to complete. |
|
Your “Which MBA” DA begins with a clear statement of the choice to be made: Select the MBA that best meets my career development needs. The Decision Statement reflects the fact that you have given considerable thought to your career development and that you have already made the decision to pursue an MBA. To avoid jumping to alternatives and risk overlooking important information, an effective manager would first be concerned with the criteria upon which the best alternative will be selected. In the next step in your “Which MBA” DA, KT encourages us to develop the criteria that will be used in evaluating your MBA program alternatives. |
